Day 4 was billed as the big one
So the McCartney boys jumped the gun
With a start at 8:20
There’d be time aplenty
To cope with strong winds and fierce sun
With two pairs cycling apart
Great progress was made from the start
Our route was well signed
No changes of mind
No faffing, a joy to the heart
We fired down the coast like a lance
Seeking the others every second glance
A glimpse of Pete
Across the street
Then in Guilvinec we met quite by chance
Over lunch we discussed the next sections
“Ride together for simpler connections”
What could be dafter
Two seconds after
We set off in different directions
As we approached the Loctudy ferry
A large cycling group made us quite chary
We started to race
To be sure of our space
Though this proved quite unnecessary
The next stretch was a massive beach carpark
Dodging fat tourists a bit of a lark
Mark got quite snotty
About the absence of totty
But Pete kept us all in the dark
Yes it turned out that Pete was a meanie
With the secrets of his Freudian genie
Too late he’d reveal
The amazing appeal
Of the girl in the yellow bikini
There were several steep climbs to Concarneau
By which time we were feeling quite low
A helluva day
Over 130k
But the final hill was painfully slow
We got to the hotel at eight
Our limbs in a desperate state
A wash, then the Pataterie
We had quite a battery
Of beer, cider and whatever we ate
The banter over dinner wasn’t deep
No witty memories to keep
In bed like a steamroom
A mosquito spelt doom
And stopped me getting much sleep
