We’re woken very early with a lot of hurly burly
But we tarry till breakfast o’clock
It’s a beautiful day on the John Muir Way
With wonderful views of Bass Rock
Cycling this trail is a merry travail
And there’s only one minor flaw
On the drab wet sands, where North Berwick stands
It’s literally against the Law
It’s been confirmed that High Street is definitely the high street
Though Quality Street once had a claim
No chocolates from here but all that makes clear
Is the importance of having the right name
Longniddry tiddley, Prestonpans rebel clans
Round here John Knox was born
Musselburgh came before Edinburgh was named
And it’ll be there when Edinburgh’s gone
I’m feeling rather mellow when we get to Portobello
Though there’s not a mushroom in sight
Then I praise the chief for sunshine on Leith
I’m sure it’s a rare delight.
