Today is called “Creeks and Coves”
We start with a ride round Pendennis
In the summer they come here in droves
Today cars are rarely a menace
Port Navas in dappled sunlight
There’s hardly a cloud in the skies
But nature’s been busy overnight
And we pedal through huge clumps of flies
We stop for coffee in Gweek
And discuss life’s mysterious dream
We agree it’s contentment we seek
Steve takes the bait and sticks with the team
A pilot and his Alvis are well past their prime
50 years with the love of his life
“Seemed a good idea at the time”
Not sure if that’s the car or his wife
At Helford is the pad of Tim Rice
One of very many country piles
The Gear Farm pasty’s rather nice
A recurrent flavour for the next 15 miles
Quaint places are Porthallow and Porthoustock
Where the switchbacks start to
diminish
Six miles flat still comes as a shock
A dip in the cove is the perfect finish.
