If you can tolerate this then the oven will be next…
We had a late start, after a full breakfast in Chepstow, got lost on the way out of town, and finally found a good route to Newport where we had coffees and one ice-cream cone (which had to be plated before it evaporated in the relentless heat).
After a sandwich lunch in Cardiff park, we cycled up to the Hawthorn Inn near Pontypridd where we had lemonade in a pub before going our separate ways. Tim and Jim were staying in Pontypridd, while Den & I had secured the last room in the Countryman Inn, a great little guest house, somewhere in the wilds not far from Llantrisant. We enjoyed a lovely but hilly route across the valley and through a forest before arriving quite unexpectedly at our destination, where we enjoyed a good supper on the terrace. It was very quiet, in spite of the guest house being full. Something was going on in Cardiff apparently, which explains why we couldn’t find any accommodation close to the coast.
Our room was another sweat box, I slept under no covers but the bedding still ended up soaked, and I don’t remember getting much sleep.
