Dunoon to Lochailort

Things hadn’t opened up properly after the first lockdown and we were desperate to get on the road, so we hired a camper van for a week, and engaged a willing driver, to do some more pedalling in Scotland. There were few facilities open at the campsites, but we did manage to have a couple of meals out, though they were outside where we were bedevilled by midges. So we survived on tinned curry and soup. It took us a day to get there, a day to get back, and we lost the last day to heavy rain. So we didn’t get quite as far as we wanted. However it was well worth it, though we felt we’d need a radically different approach to get the rest of Scotland done, as the camper van was not a great success, and we still had a long way to go to J O’G. We started to think about a two week sojourn.
