We’re out en masse today
An extra bike enters the fray
Lapwing and curlew
A solitary cuckoo
Nature at peace and at play
Twice up the Glenmore Pass
Once, a white van up my ass
As I descend at thirty
He starts to get shirty
Nearly runs me into the grass
The return is a much gentler climb
No hooligans behind this time
Drivers polite
No need for a fight
And certainly no need for a crime
We return to the ritzy Spa Club
And gatecrash the outdoor hot tub
It’s more than we’re worth
So back down to earth
Caravan, cheap wine, homely grub…
