Business Blog

I've been meaning to do this for some time and today I finally setup a business blog as a section of my website. My new Tony Hart Photo Blog will not replace Cogitations and indeed I envisage everything posted there also being posted here. However creating the new blog will allow me to do two things: a) Use Cogitations as a genuinely personal blog, writing and posting what I wish, without any conflict of interest! b) Add a relevant dynamic section to my business website that is both search engine friendly and easy to update on a day to day basis.

Basically, not a lot will change, but I'm writing this so that I've clarified what is happening and why. Hope you'll all keep reading both blogs!

All the best,

Tony

Eddie Izzard - MENTAL RUNNING

Eddie Izzard is a mental man at the best of times. At the moment however he is both especially mental and especially impressive. He's run 1100miles and an astonishing 43 marathons in 52 days. This is both mind-boggling and amazing. He deserves plaudits and if you can spare it a little bit of cash.

I just felt the need to mention it here because it'd be rude not to. The Guardian Online have a really interesting article covering this mammoth feat and if you'd like to sponsor him - it's in aid of Comic Relief - then take a wander over to Eddie's Sponsorship page.

Beyonce Blows

STOP PRESS! - Apparently, the below clip has been confirmed as a hoax. Either way, it's still funny, and I'm more than happy to look like a mong for posting it.

I’ve never been a fan of ‘Pop’ music, largely because I like real and ‘Pop’ is a all about ‘manufacturing’ a sound - aka, polishing turds. This clip below of Beyonce’s mic feed on the Today Show is quite the revelation.

I used to work with a band so I can accept that the direct feed may need some gain and delay and other tomfoolery to get the best out of a voice, and even that the odd note might not be perfectly pitched, but a decent singer should be able to sing MOSTLY in tune... right? Beyonce can’t, and that’s why the whole thing gets on my moobs. I mean seriously. It’s the equivalent of me taking my children’s paintings to the other Tony Hart, getting him to redo them and then touting myself as an ‘artiste’. Pah.

Spacecraft Transit The Sun

I’ve been trying to figure out the point of Twitter and have decided that reading others is far more interesting than posting myself. I’ve always been interested in cosmology and spaceflight, but I really recommend the NASA tweetfeed and also Nasa TV. Talk about engaging, interesting, be-there-history.

The Space Shuttle Atlantis is currently making the final scheduled Shuttle rendezvous with The Hubble Space Telescope (STS-125) to retrofit some new imaging hardware and repair broken systems. In my roamings around the interweb I came across this astonishing picture of Atlantis and Hubble transiting the sun. Yep... you can’t see it. You need to go to the
NASA Flickr page and check it out at the ‘large’ size of better before it starts to become visible. Yep, it’s that tiny little spec in the lower left.

I know it’s a long way up in the sky (600km or so if you were wondering...), but just think how many orders of magnitude further away the sun is. The transit took only 0.8 seconds certainly adds a little scale to our lives huh?!
